1.APPANNAPET (1970)

The Parish of Appannapet with the surrounding area was once a part of Kazipet Parish. It came under Karimnagar Parish, when it was formed into a Parish in 1966. It is located on the Karimnagar- Godavarikhani main Road about 120 kms away from Warangal City, going via Karimnagar Town. In the year 1942, four catholic families and three non-christian families came from Patibandla and Jangalapalli of Guntur District to a village called Nimmanapalli, about 4 kms from Peddapalli. In 1943, some more catholic families from Patibandla, Phirangipuram and Mellavagu of Guntur Dt. came and purchased about 250 acres of land near the old village of Appannapeta, 3 kms from Peddapalli towards Ramagundam. Fr. Pazzaglini, PIME, and Fr. Lino Dal Balcon, PIME, from Kazipet visited these new settlements of Catholic families. Eventually, these villages came under the jurisdiction of Karimnagar Parish, which was erected on 01-07-1966. Since then, Fr.G.Tirinzoni,PIME, as the Parish Priest of Karimnagar, used to visit them regularly.

3.ASSISI NAGAR (1970)

In 1968, the first Franciscan Capuchin Missionary, Fr. Adolf OFM Cap came to Warangal on the invitation of Most Rev. Alphonsus Beretta. From 1968 to 1969 Fr. Adolf, OFM Cap resided at Reddipuram (Vangapadu). During this period, he purchased a site near Mill Colony in Warangal Town for the establishment of the Parish Headquarters. At that time, the mass was celebrated every fortnight in an ice factory owned by Jal Nooria at Warangal for the 30 & odd Catholic families of that locality.
In 1969, Fr. Oswald Pratap, OFM Cap, replaced Fr. Adolf. He changed his Residence from Reddipuram to the present Parish Campus, which was named after their Patron, St. Francis of Assisi and consequently that locality came to be known as Assisinagar. The Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Warangal, was formally erected only on 20-4-1970, with the villages that were hither-to under Manugonda and Fatimanagar Parishes namely Warangal, Reddipuram (Vangapadu) Lourdunagar, Mogilicherla and Kumarapally (Hanamkonda). Fr. Oswald Pratap was appointed as the first Parish Priest.

2. ATMAKUR 1998

Atmakur is Mandal Headquarters on the Warangal – Eturnagaram High Way. It is 22 KM from Warang city. Late Fr.Avito OFM Cap was the pioneer who tirelessly toiled to sow the seeds of the gospel as early as 1996.
His missionary efforts resulted in the baptism of about 60 families on 24.04.1996. Fr.Avito procured land and built the parish church and the presbytery which were blessed by Most Rev.Thumma Bala on 2nd May 1998. Atmakur was formally erected as parish on 31st May 1998. Fr.Avito was appointed the first parish priest. In April 1999 Adoration Sisters opened a convent in the parish campus at the invitation of our bishop Thumma Bala. The sisters opened St.Theresa’s English Med. School the same academic year with a small boarding home. After the sudden demise of Fr.Avito in 2004 Fr.Dasari Joseph was appointed as the Parish Priest on 6th November 2004. Fr.Basani Prakash Reddy succeeded Fr.Jospeh on 30th April 2006 as the third parish priest. In April 2008, Atmakur was bifurcated with the establishment of new parish of Parkal. Accordingly, Parkal was separated from Atmakur. Along with Parkal, Vellampally village adopted and evangelized by Fr.Basani Prakash was also given to Parkal. Simultaneously, Bhupalapalli village was given to the Missionaries of Precious Blood leaving another five villages for Atmakur parish.

4.CHERIAL (2010)

Cherial is a Mandal head quters consists of twenty four villages and it is closer to the Janagaon town and it is 32 kilorniters from Janagaon and almost 84 k.m from Fathima Nagar Bishops House. Cherial is between Sidhipet and Janagaon.
In the early nineties Cherial was in the district of Nalgonda and was with the people of Hindu religion taut as the years were passed it was separated from Nalgonda district and was added to Weirangal district, but in 1921 with the help of a catholic priest called Rcv,Kr. Pinto some of the Reddy catholic people like Beeredydy lnnareddy, yeruva Innareddy,Kandula Mareddy, Udurnula Innareddy,Thurnrna Chelma reddy came and laid a foundation to the catholic village which was named as Reddypallem and then later some families from guntoor came and joined them. But the Hindu people call this village as Guntoorpally bec^iuse these people were migrated from guntoor. And now people call it as Guntoor pally. In 1951, Rev. Fr, Sundar Charles constructed a chapel. But at present church which in cherial was constructed by Rev,Fr Rego,SVD, priest on 21-12-1989.and was blessed by Bishop Thurnma Bala. on 7-6-1990. At present there are only 54 familes230 Catholics in the village. The sisters of presentation congregation started an English medium school in 1999. Till 2008 may this Guntoor pally parish was under the care of SVD priest as a sub­station and 2008 may it was made as a parish and was given to the care of Holy Spirit fathers and the first parish priest was Rev, Fr Ambrose.

5. DACHARAM (1988)

The catholic community of Dacharam was founded on May 2nd, 1970. Most of the Catholics are migrants from diffferent villages of Warangal District such as Allempalli, Mallakapalli, Cherial, Agapet, Kodur, Thammadapally, Prakashreddypet and Chinthalachervu of Rangareddy Dt. The reason for migration was that the cultivable land in this area was cheap. This community consists of 23 catholic families.
Dacharam was bifurcated from Karimnagar Parish by Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 1st February, 1988 and it was erected as a Parish with Fr. Boyapati Anthony as its first Parish Priest. It is 32 kms from Karimnagar town on the Rajiv Gandhi National Highway to Hyderabad. Dacharam Church was built by Fr. G. Tirinzoni and was later extended by Fr. B. Anthony in 1988. In 1989, he built the Presbytery. At the invitation of Bishop Thumma Bala, Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius De Gonzaga and the Sisters of Catholic Apostolate ( Pallottine Sisters) opened Convents and Schools at Begumpet and Shanigaram respectively. Pallottine Sisters opened a small Dispensary-cum-Convent earlier in 1994 at Dacharam. The Sisters also opened St.Vincent Pallotti School and Convent at Regulapalli, Shanigaram in 2000, which is 7 kms from Dacharam.

6.DEVAGIRIPATNAM (1970)

Devagiripatnam is one of the oldest catholic villages in Warangal Diocese. The Catholics of this community migrated from Mattampally (Nalgonda-Dt). This community was a part of Kazipet Parish. Later in 1953, it was given to Fatimanagar Parish. The paddy fields under Ramappa lake belonged to the catholic families of Devagiripatnam once upon a time. They abandoned these fields as they were not able to pay land tax and went away from the village and came back after some years. New catholic communities, such as Maddenapally, Chelvai, Ramachandrapuram, Govindaraopet got settled in the surroundings of Mulugu. Rajpet is about 95 kms from Mulugu. Bringing all these hamlets under one umbrella, Devagiripatnam was erected as a Parish in 1970. Prior to this, Fr. Pazzaglini, Fr. G. Peter, Fr. Lanza, PIME, Fr. Semplicetto, PIME, Fr. A. Finelli, PIME, Rt.Rev. Bishop Alphonsus Beretta, PIME, and Fr. Tirinzoni, PIME, Fr. Lucatello T., looked after these villages from Kazipet and Fatimanagar Parishes. In recent years, Kamalapuram (1989) and Pasara (1995) were bifurcated from Devagiripatnam Parish and were made into New Parishes by Most Rev.Thumma Bala. As a result, Devagiripatnam has only three sub-stations now.

7.DHARMASAGAR (1977)

Records show that Fr. G. Pazzaglini, PIME, was the first Missionary who made contacts for evangelization of Dharmasagar and its surrounding villages. His successor, Fr. Leeno Dal Balcon, PIME, during his tenure as the Parish Priest of Kazipet, won many into catholic faith at Dharmasagar and baptised them on 21st April 1964. He built a small chapel on a rock on the way to Unikicherla. Fr. A. Colombo, PIME, succeeded him, who looked after this village from 1970 to 1977 from Ghanpur. In 1970, Fr. Colombo built a Church dedicated to St. Anthony. It was erected as a Parish on 1st March, 1977 by Most Rev. A. Beretta with some villages from Ghanpur and Kazipet Parishes. Rev. Fr. Pilli Samuel was appointed as its first Parish Priest. Since then, several institutions were established to cater to the spiritual, educational, medical, social and economic needs of the people. Fr. Goa Showraiah started Deenamitra boarding in 1981 to give an opportunity for the village boys to study. The present boarding building was constructed by Fr. S. Bala Showry. Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters opened a Convent and a Health Centre in 1992 at the invitation of Bishop Thumma Bala. In 1993, Tailering Centre and a Primary School were also started. Fr. T. Jerome began the construction of a new and bigger Parish Church, which was almost getting completed by March 2003. There are 347 Catholic families.

8.Diesel Colony

In 1990 Fr. Dodda Raja was stationed at Diesel Colony as a helper to give Masses in Kazipet parish. He was in Disel colony till 1996. In 1996 Fr. T.Augutine was stationed at Diesel Colony as a helper to the parish of Kazipet. He was there till 2002.
The Diesel Colony parish was bifurcated from the Parish of St. Joseph Kazipet, on 31st May 2003 L.Fr. B.Leeno was appointed as the parish priest. He constructed a new Chapel and a Grotto in honor of Mary of good health. He was there till 2007. on 31sl May 2007 Fr. A. Prakash was appointed at the parish priest of Diesel Colony on 31st 2007.

9.MARIAPURAM PARISH

Mariapuram Mission was the venture of the new Salesian Province of St.Joseph, Hyderabad, at the invitation of Most.Rev.Thumma Bala,D.D. It is situated on Warangal –Khammam Road eleven Kmts from Warangal near RamaKrishnapuram. At first Singaram parish, which was under the Capuchin Fathers was handed over to the Salesians temporarily, until the New Mission Complex was established at Mariapuram village to cater to the spiritual needs
of villagers in the three mandels of Parvathagiri,Raiparthi,and Nekkonda. To this effect and agreement was made between Bishop Thumma Bala and Fr.Benjamin Puthota,the then Salesian provincial,on 16th August 1992.
The pioneer, Fr.Chacko Thattil SDB, with his assistant Fr.George Koonthanam SDB, arrived at Singarem parish on 12th August 1992. The Salesians changed their residence from Singaram to Mariapuram on 16th July 1994.The boarding was officially started at Mariapuram on July 8th 1993. The Don Bosco English Medium primary school was started at Mariapurm village on July 30, 1993.

10.DORNAKAL (1952)

Dornakal is a Town. It is about the half way between Kazipet and Vijayawada. It became prominent because on one hand, there is a railway junction facilitating Hyderabad-Vijayawada railway route and on the other, it is the main entrance point to the Singareni coal mines, which are located in Kothagudem-Bhadrachalam division. At first, some Catholic families of Anglo-Indians and Tamils settled here due their employment in railways. These Catholics were ministered by PIME Missionaries from Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Later, it was an out-station of Kazipet Parish. According to tradition since 1913, it served as a Mission Centre. Mahabubabad, Khammam, Illandu and Kothagudem were a part of this Mission Centre. Before being erected as a Parish, Fr.Farina, PIME, of Hyderabad was commissioned to construct the Parish Church. It was completed and blessed on 19th Jan. 1936 by Bishop D. Vismara, PIME. It was dedicated to Sts. Peter and Paul. The former PIME Missionaries who worked there were: Fr. J. Seminati, Fr. Lino Dal Balcon, Most Rev.A.Beretta, Frs. J.Tinti, F.Antonello and Fr. Tiburtius Raja. Dornakal was canonically erected as Parish on 3rd July 1952. It is the Mother Parish of Kothagudem, Budidampadu, Tanikella,Garla, Thimmaraopet of Khammam Diocese. During the time of Fr. Antonello, Nirmala Sisters opened their Convent in 1966 to collaborate in evangelization and educational fields.

11.EKASILANAGAR (1996)

Ekasilanagar Parish, M.V. Colony Road-1, is located on the way to Desaipet from Warangal City Centre. It is 12 kms from Fatimanagar, the Diocesan Headquarters. It is 3 kms from Warangal railway station. There are about 25 Catholic families who came from different catholic villages and settled in town area for business and employment. To meet the spiritual needs of these Catholics, Fr. Thomas Ampatt, OFM Cap., procured a piece of land and built a Church in 1995 and it was blessed by Bishop Thumma Bala on 6th June 1996. On the same day, it was bifurcated by Bishop Thumma Bala from Assisinagar Parish and erected into a New Parish with Desaipet, Paidipalli and Kothawada as sub-stations. Msgr. K.Joseph was appointed the first Parish Priest. He built the Presbytery in 1997 and it was blessed and inaugurated by Bishop Thumma Bala on 27th April, 1998.Now there are 20 families.

12.ELUKATURTHY (1990)

Elukaturthy Parish with its outstations, is spreadout in two Mandals namely Elukaturthy and Bheemadevarapalli. It was entrusted to the Congregation of Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales of Visakhapatnam Province for Missionary Work. It was bifurcated by Bishop Thumma Bala from Shantipuram Parish and made into an independent Parish on 18th November, 1990. Fr. Mathew Manayathumary, M.S.F.S, was appointed as its first Parish Priest.The Presbytery was built by Fr.Mathew Manayathumary and blessed by Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 19th April, 1993. This is the first Mission for the M.S.F.S. in the Diocese. The Parish Church is almost getting completed by Fr. Allam Prathap, MSFS, and it will be blessed by Most Rev. Thumma Bala in June, 2003.
In 1993, at the invitation of Bishop Thumma Bala, Carmelite Sisters’ Congregation of the Mother of Carmel came to the Parish to establish a Convent and an integrated school for the visually handicapped children at Elukaturthy. It has an attached hostel.

13.GHANPUR (1971)

Ghanpur is a small Town located on the Warangal-Hyderabad Highway. It is 22 kms from Fatimanagar. Fr. Leeno Dal Balcon evangelized the people here and baptised them on 21 April, 1964. In the year 1971, it was bifurcated by Most Rev. Alphonsus Beretta and was erected into a Parish with 35 sub-stations, which were under Kazipet, Kanchanapalli, Narimetta and Reddipalem Parishes. Fr. A. Colombo, PIME, was appointed by Bishop A.Beretta as its first Parish Priest. At its maximum development, it had 40 sub-stations, mostly of S.C. and Reddy communities.
With great missionary zeal, Fr. Colombo, PIME, and his successors worked for the last 30 years and have brought many to catholic faith. As a result in the course of time, new Parishes were created from Ghanpur Parish: Dharmasagar (1977), Karunapuram (1981) Mallakapalli (1994) and Malkapur (2002). At present, it has 6 sub-stations which are situated in a radius of 18 kms from Ghanpur.
At Ghanpur, there are 204 catholic families. The Parish House and Parish Church were built by Fr. A. Colombo in the year 1971. Fr. M. Jaya Paul renovated the Parish Church in 1998. Fr.Colombo established Nirmala Craft Centre to create an opportunity for women to find work. The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Sisters opened their Convent at Ghanpur in 1972 and helped in the evangelization process while looking after the Nirmala Handicraft Centre. The Diocese established Vidya Jyothi Degree & P.G. / MCA College and Vidya Jyothi Hostel for Boys in 1993.

14. GNANAPURAM

Rev. Fr.A.Colombo purchased about 70 acres of land at Nashkal bridge on the main road to Hanamkonda to Hyderabad. In 2007 April naming this place as Gnanapuram, new Parish of Gnanapuram was erected, bifurcated from Karunapuram Parish 2 villages and 2 villages from Malkapur Parish with Fr.D.Sudhakar as its first Parish Priest . Fr.D.Sudhakar stayed with Fr.A.Colombo at Karunapuram Parish House. April 30, 2008 Rev.Fr.G.Sudhakar was appointed as Parish Priest of Gnanapuram. On April 30, 2010 Rev.Fr. Basani Chinnapureddy was appointed as Parish Priest of Gnanapuram with his residence at Salvatorians’ Formation House, Gnanapuram.

15. GODAVARIKHANI (1978)

Godavarikhani is located 150 kms away from the Diocesan Headquarters. It is an industrial town. The population of the Town is around five lakhs. It is a coal mine area and naturally the Summer temperature shoots up very high and sometimes can rise upto 48O or 49O celsius, which is one of the highest in India.
Godavarikhani was bifurcated from Appannapet and made into a Parish by Rt. Rev. Alphonsus Beretta on 27-04-1983 and the first Parish Priest was Fr.Silvester Dias, OFM Cap. The Missionaries, who served in this area from Kazipet and Karimnagar are: Frs. G.Pazzaglini, Leeno Dal Balcon, and G.Tirinzoni. They are all from the PIME Society. There are around 17000 catholics. Most of them are very poor and they work as daily labourers in the coal mines.

16. HASANPARTHY (1997)

Hasanparthy Mariahout Parish was erected on 5th June 1997, taking a few villages from Dharmasagar and Waddepally Parishes. Fr. Vatti Raja was appointed as its first Parish Priest. The new Mission Centre was established with the purpose of easy access and better pastoral care and to meet the educational needs of the area. At the invitation of Bishop Thumma Bala, the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco opened a Convent, first at Yellapur and after a year, they moved to the present site i.e., Nirmalnagar. They have opened an English Medium School. The Parish House was built by Fr. Vatti Raja and was to be inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Henk Leemens (Holland). But he fell very sick and could not come. Hence it was inaugurated and blessed by Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 20 Jan. 1999. The Parish Church was built with the help of Fr.G.Sudhakar and was blessed by Bishop Thumma Bala on March 19th, 2002. The Mariahout Parish in Holland helped through its Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Henk Leemens, towards building of the Parish House here; therefore this Parish is named after Mariahout. This whole complex is named after Nirmala Mata as “Nirmalnagar”.

17. HUSNABAD (1999)

Husnabad is a Township. It was bifurcated by Most Rev. Thumma Bala from the Parish of Elukaturthy and erected as an independent Parish on 6th June, 1999. The purpose of this New Centre was to minister to the spiritual needs of the faithful in the Town and to serve as a Centre for evangelization work. The Diocese started a new english medium school here to cater to the educational needs of the local people and this area.

18. JAGTIAL (1989)

Jagtial Mission was established by Most Rev. Thumma Bala, separating it from Karimnagar in 1989. Having Sub-Collectorate, Jagtial is one of the biggest Towns in Karimnagar District. It is located on the Karimnagar-Nizamabad Highway. It is 50 kms from Karimnagar and 125 kms from Fatimanagar. It is known for business.
Some catholic families from Kerala and Tamilnadu are staying in Jagtial since 1980. They work in Government Offices, private English Medium Schools and also have their business. Fr. P. Papi Reddy was appointed as the first Parish Priest of Jagtial Mission in September, 1989. He purchased 10 guntas of land near the grain market (Beet Bazar) and constructed a Church, which was blessed by Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 21-03-1993.
In May 1994, Fr. Pentareddy Raja succeeded Fr. P. Papireddy at Jagtial. He purchased eight and half acres of land at Dharur for Jagtial Mission the same year. It is three kms from Jagtial, on the way to Karimnagar. Korutla Mission was bifurcated by Most Rev. Thumma Bala from Jagtial in May1995. It is given to M.S.F.S. Fathers. At the invitation of Bishop Thumma Bala, the Mount Carmel Sisters came in May 1996 and started an English Medium School from LKG to 2nd standard in Dharur village in a rented house. Foundation stone for a school building was laid on 30th January, 1997. Evangelization work has started in two more villages along with social work. Mount Carmel School building was blessed by Most. Rev. Thumma Bala on 02-04-1998. The Parish Church and the Hostel ( Jubilee 2000 Home) were constructed by Fr. M. Gao Showraiah and blessed by Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 23rd January, 2003.

19. KADAVENDI

Kadavendi village is centrally located to the existing catholic villages which belong to this parish. Though this village is known for Naxalites, Janashakti and Radicals, with a real vision of evangelizing this area and this village, Most Rev Thumma Bala DD, the bishop of Warangal Diocese, erected it as a full pledged parish and entrusted it to the Society of the Divine Word (SVD Mission). Fr. R. Antonysarny, SVD was appointed as the first parish priest in the year 2003 (18-06-2003).
For this, they used to start their missionary journey in the early morning by 4 AM without minding the biting cold of the winter season. They started first a Farmers’ Group and trained them different ways of agricultural methods. Next, they started Self-Help Groups for women. Later, they started satellite schools in ten villages for one year. At the request of the people, St. John de Britto High School came into existence in the year 2003. Before the starting of the school, they also dug bore wells in all Lambada hamlets to quench those people’s thirst.
After two years of constant training on the Holy Bible, catechetical instructions, participating in Catholic marriages, Catholic festivals in different villages, participating in retreats and continuous participating in the Sunday Liturgical services in Jangaon, on 31-03-2000, some Lambada families accepted Christ as their savior and Lord by receiving baptism.
Having seen the effect of the good works done by Rev. Fr. A. Antonysarny, SVD, the Bishop Thumma Bala came forward to establish this parish by bifurcating it from Jangaon.

20. JANGAON (1983)

Jangaon Town is centrally located to a number of catholic villages. It was erected as a Parish by Bishop Alphonsus Beretta,PIME, on 29th June 1983, with the villages taken from the Parishes of Kanchanapalli and Narimetta. The Parish was entrusted to the Society of Divine Word (SVD). Fr. Rego was appointed as the first Parish Priest. He built the Parish House and the Church, which were blessed and inaugurated on 16-03-1992 by Most Rev. Thumma Bala.
From its inception, many institutions have come up. In 1982, the Catechist Sisters of St. Ann established the Arogyamatha Convent at Yeshwanthapur on the outskirts of Jangaon for evangelization work. Later in 1984, they established a 50 beded Hospital. In June 1997, the Federation of Farmers was formed. The federation opened an agriculture in-put centre at Jangaon, for which Fr. A. Anthonysamy, SVD, was instrumental. He was also instrumental and took keen interest in the purchase of land, starting a school at Devaruppala and Sacred Heart Brothers’ coming there.
In 1999, the Warangal Diocesan Society established Christu Jyothi Institute of Technology and Science at Colombonagar (Yeshwanthapur). This place is named after Rev. Fr. A. Colombo PIME, as he was instrumental in raising the finance for the establishment of Engineering College. In June 1999, the Diocese also took over from the private management of Mr. K. Sleeva Reddy St. Paul’s High School in Jangaon Town. Presently, there are 45 catholic families in the Town.

21. KAMALAPURAM (1989)

At Kamalapuram, the formation of the catholic community began with the family of Pullamasetti Subbaiah who married Arlamma, a Catholic girl, from Mutlur in Guntur Dt. and received baptism at the time of marriage. Later on, their five children took catholic spouses.These were the first catholic families at Kamalapuram. Between 1940 & 1950, some catholic families, hailing from Denduluru in West Godavari and Nunna in Krishna District, began to migrate to Rajpet, 20 kms from Kamalapuram. These two communities were a part of Devagiripatnam Parish. Initially, the Parish Priest of Devagiripatnam used to visit these communities. There were also a few catholic families scattered and living in Tadvai, Eturunagaram, Mangapet and Tondyala. Grouping together all these villages, Kamalapuram was erected as a Parish on 5th January, 1989 with Fr. Goa Showraiah as the first Parish Priest. He built the Parish House and the Infant Jesus Church in 1992. He also opened Bala Seva Sadan boarding home for boys in 1991. Carmelite Sistes opened a school in 1994. 22. KANCHANAPALLI (1910)

Kanchanapally is one of the oldest Parishes in the Diocese of Warangal. The catholic families of Mekala Marreddy and Mekala Inna Reddy first came to Narimetta from Podapadu of Guntur Dt. in 1907; and then moved from there to Kanchanapally in a couple of years. Later, some more families came from Patibandla, Phirangipuram of Guntur District to Kanchanapally, as they found the land very fertile.
It was bifurcated from Kazipet Parish and erected into a Parish by Bishop Vismara, Bishop of Hyderabad with Fr. Offreedi, PIME, as the first Parish Priest in 1910. Frs. Seminati, Seporate, Farina, Bortolato, Angelo Pino, Finelli, Trinizoni were PIME Missionaries, who toiled in this Mission.

23. KARIMNAGAR (1966)

Karimnagar is a District Headquarters. It is 75 kms from Fatimanagar. After the construction of Lower Maneru Dam, this Town has gained importance and also developed. There were some catholic villages with traditional Catholics spread-out in different parts of Karimnagar District. The spiritual needs of the Catholics of this District were looked after by Frs. Gino Pazzaglini,PIME, and Lino Dal Balcon, PIME, from the Parish of Kazipet and the Priests who assisted them in the Mission, namely Fr. Gade Solomon, Fr. Finelli, PIME, Fr. M.P. Joseph and Fr. Emmanuel.
In 1966, it was bifurcated from Kazipet and was erected as a Parish by Most Rev. Alphonsus Beretta, with 26 catholic villages. Its juridical territory included the entire District of Karimnagar. Fr.G.Tirinzoni, PIME, was appointed as its first Parish Priest. With the help of his co-worker-priests, he successfully managed the whole District by taking care of the spiritual needs of the people. Some of the Priests who worked there are : Fr. I. Abraham, Fr. Thumma Bala, who is now the Bishop of Warangal, Fr. E. Raphael, Fr. Elias Arogya Samy SJ. From the year 1971 onwards new Parishes are being erected, bifurcating them from Karimnagar Parish. The 11 existing Parishes in the District were bifurcated from Karimnagar and are the fruits of the hard work done by the Priests mentioned above, with a special reference to Fr. G. Tirinzoni, who constructed the Parish House, Parish Church, St. Alphonse’s school building, Ranipuram Church and a number of chapels in sub-stations.

24. KARUNAPURAM

Till 1980 Karunapuram was like a semi-desert. The land was abandoned and sterile due to lack of ground water. Consequently when Fr. Colombo wanted to buy some land for the leprosy Hospital a lot of people offered land at a good price. Fr.Colombo purchased from 80 people about 150 acres of land and started the Parish House , built a Church, and a leprosy Hospital in 1981. The new Parish was erected by Most Rev. Alphonsus Beretta with 18 villages on 13th December 1981. The founder of Karunapuram, Fr.A.Colombo, PIME who was the then Parish Priest of the Ghanpur , was also appointed as the first Parish Priest of Karunapuram with 18 villages. The reason for creating this Parish was to reduce the work load of the Parish Priest of Ghanpur who had 30 villages to look after. The second reason was to develop a leprosy Hospital and a new Rehabilitation Centre.

Rev. Fr.A.Colombo purchased a land at Nashkal bridge on the main road to Hanamkond ato Hyderabad. In 2007 April naming this place as Gnanapuram, new Parish of Gnanapuram was erected, bifurcated from Karunapuram Parish 2 villages and 2 villages from Malkapur Parish with Fr.D.Sudhakar as its first Parish Priest.
Rev.Fr.A.Colombo, PIME, has taken keen interest and has been instrumental in geeting money for establishing Vidya Nketan High School & Boarding for Boys, vidya Niketan Junior College for Boys, St.Sugustine Hostel for Boys at Karunapuaram Vidya Jyothi Degree and P.G.College and Hostel for Boys at Station Ghanpur and Christu Jyothi
Engineering College, Hostels & Complex at Colombonagar , Janaon for which our Diocese of Warangal remains very much greateful to him, to his Friends and Benefactors. August 31, 2009 was a sad and unforgettable day in the history of Karunapuram.

25. KAZIPET (1887)

Kazipet Parish is the oldest Parish in the Diocese of Warangal. It is the Mother Parish of all most all the Parishes in the Diocese. The foundation of the earliest catholic community of Kazipet dates back to 1887 with the laying of Vijayawada and Secunderabad railway track. Kazipet is a Railway Junction in the South Central Railway, connecting North with South i.e., Delhi Chennai and Trivandrum, East and West, Howrah and Mumbai, Ahammadabad. From Kazipet / Warangal, there are direct trains in all directions in India.
At the dawn of the twentieth century, Indian Railways, which made kazipet as a Junction, has brought a good number of catholic employees, who formed a mixed community of Anglo-Indians, Telugus and Tamilians at Kazipet.
Fr. Lino Dal Balcon, PIME, became the Parish Priest of Kazipet in 1958. The Baptismal Register shows that he baptised people in the Parish from 13th July, 1958. He completed the Parish Church. Though many Parishes had been erected by then, Karimnagar District was still under Kazipet. Fr. M.P. Joseph, Fr. Emmanuel, Fr.P.Papireddy and Fr. B. Anthony were given as assistants to Fr. Lino Dal Balcon. During his time, the evangelization work spread to many surrounding villages and wherever the people embraced catholic faith, they were baptised. The local Church rejoiced at the multitudes embracing catholic faith in the second part of 1960s. Some significant days of baptisms given at different villages are : 8th March, 1964 at Rampuram, 21st April, 1964 at Dharmasagar, 4th May, 1965 at Ghanpur and 6th July,1966 at Devannapet, which deserve a special mention. At Dharmapuram, a big community was baptised by Fr. P. Papireddy, the then assistant parish priest at Kazipet on 2nd Jan, 1967. He likewise baptized many families at Bhimaram on 11th April, 1973 and on 5th December, 1975. Fr. Lino Dal Balcon later built a Church at Bhimaram.
